It's that time of year again - Mom's birthday! Well, it was actually yesterday. I was too lazy to post this then. And I'm not sure anyone's reading this blog anyway! Oh dear.
When Grammy Rogers was pregnant with Mom, people told her that she would have an April Fools baby. Being the contrarian (no that's not a word, but it fits) that she was, she said, "No, I'm not!" and she held Mom in until the next day. I'm glad Mom's not an April Fools baby. It just wouldn't be fair.
After days of rain, the sun broke out yesterday. It's raining again now, so I'm glad the one nice day was on Mom's birthday. I spent most of the day cleaning the house and putting the finishing touches on her strawberry poke cake. It has now become a tradition to have that cake every year on her birthday. It IS good, I must admit.
Craig stopped by after work for a while. While he's not big on desserts, he did partake of the yummy birthday poke cake. So, it must be good. *pats self on back* A little later in the day, Steven called to wish Mom a happy birthday. Sara and Barry Brewster (Bonney's mom and brother) are visiting them right now. Bonney's birthday is tomorrow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BONNEY!
We had a really nice, pleasant, quiet day. Mom seemed genuinely relaxed and pleased at day's end. So, here's some pictures from yesterday. They may look vaguely familiar. It's ok. Tradition is good.
It's really good. It's also already half gone.
Can't go wrong with sparkles and butterflies.
Squirt never misses an opportunity to be in the middle of things.
"But it's too pretty to open ..."
Mom really likes Woman's Word Magazine.
